Objectives

The objective of studying Environmental Health Technology is to prepare individuals to play a critical role in promoting and protecting public health by ensuring that environmental conditions meet health and safety standards. The following are some of the key objectives of studying Environmental Health Technology:

  • To gain a comprehensive understanding of environmental health and safety regulations, including the principles of environmental health, hazardous materials management, and public health law.
  • To develop the skills necessary to conduct inspections, collect and analyze environmental samples, and identify potential environmental health hazards.
  • To learn how to implement programs and initiatives to prevent and control environmental health hazards, and promote environmental health and safety.
  • To gain proficiency in using the latest technology and tools for environmental health monitoring, such as geographic information systems (GIS) and laboratory analysis equipment.
  • To develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and be able to identify and implement solutions to environmental health problems.
  • To understand the importance of record keeping, and be able to maintain accurate records of environmental health and safety activities.
  • To learn how to educate and communicate with the public about environmental health and safety issues, and promote programs and initiatives to improve environmental health.

Programme Duration

The course is structured to last two (3) years (Six Semesters). The programme has four (4) components namely: classroom, Practical field experiences, internship, project (research works).

Enrty Requirement

Minimum requirement: five (5) O’ level credits at not more than two sitting in GCE, NECO, SSCE, WAEC, which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology/ Health science and any other subject.
